Ten Years Apart, the Same Infectious Joy

Visiting Achungo School in January 2026 was both a return and a rediscovery for me. I first traveled there 10 years ago with my family, and most recently with my best friend to celebrate my birthday. Both trips were extremely meaningful.

What struck me – both times – was how impactful it is to step into a completely different way of life. The perspective you gain, the connections you form, and the memories you create stay with you long after you leave. The joy and energy of the students and staff at Achungo was truly infectious; it’s something you feel immediately and carry with you afterward.

Both visits have shaped how I see the world, reminding me of the importance of community, curiosity, and human connection. It’s an experience I find myself constantly recommending to others – and one I only hope to return to again in the future.
